The multiple sclerosis wheelchair built for any terrain.
When MS tries to slow you down, stay active in the off-road wheelchair, the GRIT Freedom Chair
People living with multiple sclerosis are one of the populations of GRIT Freedom Chair riders. From hiking and trail riding to dog-walking and days at the beach, our riders use this all-terrain, multiple sclerosis wheelchair to live their lives to the fullest. If you have MS or a related degenerative condition, read on to learn about riders facing similar challenges and their adventures beyond the pavement.
My main goals were to find something that would roll over rocks, roots, and small steps. I wanted something that would work on mud, sand, and snow. Ideally, this chair would also move forward as well as stop in rain
This is an awesome off-road wheelchair that has opened up my world immensely. Not only can I easily navigate dirt roads, mud, lawns, snow, and ice, but I am now able to get to many more places in nature that I was no longer able to get to.
The GRIT Freedom Chair eclipsed my expectations and will take you to places on three wheels you never thought possible. Its design is elegantly simple—and brilliant.
Benefits of the GRIT Freedom Chair for riders with MS
Keep up with friends and family
It can be exhausting to keep up with others when using crutches, a walker, or a cane on uneven terrain. The GRIT Freedom Chair's lever drive takes much of the physical stress out of pushing yourself around, helping you enjoying your environment, your friends, your family, and the adventure ahead!
Reduced fatigue
The GRIT Freedom Chair is far easier to push than a regular wheelchair. Our ergonomic lever drive uses large muscle groups to reduce fatigue and keep you adventuring longer. You can even use off-the-shelf bike parts to match your GRIT Freedom Chair to your shifting strength and ability levels.
Stories from riders with multiple sclerosis
Rider Spotlight: John Arbino
The first weekend I had it I went down to the park, and it was great because I could push around. Some of the trails are gravel and some of them are dirt, but it let me get out and enjoy the fresh air again . . .
